The counseling process can be a challenging and exciting journey. My goal is to infuse hope while ensuring a safe place for you to share your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a trusting relationship. My role is to listen and help explore the reasons that prompted you to seek counseling. I will assist you in identifying stressors that contribute to your concern and help develop strategies for coping with or altering these stressors as we work together to achieve your counseling goals and renew your mental health.
I specialize in anxiety, depression, women's issues, marriage and relationship counseling, internal and external boundary issues, and young adults. I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I practice from a Christian world view, but do not impose my beliefs on clients; however, I can incorporate this perspective if desired.
I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the School of Professional Psychology at Forest Institute in Springfield, Missouri in 2013. I completed my practicum at the Relationship Center in Springfield, Missouri and have experience as a Community Support Specialist through Burrell Behavioral Health in Springfield, Missouri. I began working at University Counseling Services at Truman State University in January 2014. I received supervision during my first two years at UCS for licensure and am now a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri. I began private practice with Anchor Counseling in May 2016 and established Renew Counseling LLC in 2020.
I am here to support you in this journey. Please reach out by phone or email when you are ready. Telehealth or in-person sessions are available.
After more than a decade of working with women and families facing unexpected pregnancy, I earned my Masters of Education in Professional Counseling and Human Development with a certificate in addictions counseling from Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky in 2020. Whether something in your life has recently changed or you noticed that something needs to change, compassionate understanding through the counseling process can help with your next step. Through person-centered care we will focus on the concerns you choose to share and will work together to develop goals that address each issue. I approach mental health as one aspect of overall wellness and will work to support growth in your relationship with your self, the people around you, and the world.
I am trained in EMDR, a leading trauma therapy, and have a certificate in addictions counseling. I have worn many hats throughout my career of over 35 years in banking from customer service to loan officer to branch manager and have appreciated the many challenges each of these roles provided. Most importantly I enjoy meeting new people and strive to help those around me to do and be their best. Currently, I am completing my certification for financial coaching through Dave Ramsey's master class.
